I'm writing this a couple minutes before the Till v Whittaker prelims start.

The leg lock game has taken over no-gi grappling, with critics saying high level no-gi BJJ looks more like catch wrestling. No guard play, just leg locks or back takes. As we see more high level grapplers make their way into MMA like Ryan Hall (left), they bring this into the game.
Last week, Jack Hermannson was able to submit Kevin Gastellum with a heel hook and Ariane Lipski (Farmertown Girl of the Week) got a win by kneebar.





The leg lock is a meta in grappling and is slowly making its way into MMA. Coach Firas Zahabi has a wonderful guard pull from the clinch that then transitions into a leg lock. A man miles ahead of the game was Rousimar Palhares, infamous for holding leg locks too long.


He would go in for take downs and roll into a leg lock. Only one man was able to neutralize this. His name escapes me.
